Infant Mental Health and Early Intervention Coming Together

Description: The session will begin with an introduction to the physical and social emotional aspects of trauma and causes of trauma in infants and very young children. Case studies presented with video will demonstrate behavioral cues that indicate responses to trauma. The roles of mental health, foster care, early childhood education, early intervention, public health and social services will be discussed with respect to the needs of the child. Participants will have an opportunity to voice their needs for future training in this area.

Participants will learn:

What constitutes trauma and the physical and behavioral effects of trauma;
How to recognize behavioral cues in very young children who have been exposed to trauma;
How to work with other agenices to provide appropriate services for children exposed to trauma;
Considerations for children with other special needs (dual diagnosis) who have been exposed to trauma.

Schedule: Registration at 8:00 a.m. Session begins at 9:00 a.m. Session ends at 4:00 pm
